_Hello!

My name is Elira Kuka and I am a graduate student in the Economics Department at the University of California, Davis.

I am currently a third year students, and just getting started with my own research. I am interested in Public Finance, and more specifically in tax evasion and avoidance. My ongoing research aims at comparing survey data and tax administration data to show whether individuals respond to tax changes by changing labor supply or tax evasion behavior. Apart from tax noncompliance, my research agenda includes analyzing the effect of different welfare programs on the poor. Lastly, I am also interested in education policies and how they affect academic achievement.

Apart from doing research, I currently am also a Teaching Assistant for ECN 151B - Human Resources. In the past, I have worked as a Teaching Assistant for: Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, Public Finance, and Public Microeconomics.
